Grows beautifully across the US in USDA Zones 3–11. Mint thrives in partial shade to full sun. It prefers rich, consistently moist soil that stays somewhat damp. Mint is extremely aggressive and will spread rapidly; for this reason, container planting is highly recommended to prevent it from taking over your garden.
Sowing Method
Indoors: Sow seeds thinly on the surface of sterile, moist seed-starting mix 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Lightly press them in—do not cover, as they require light to germinate.
Direct Seed: Sow shallowly after the danger of frost has passed in a consistently moist, shaded spot.
Temperatures & Germination
Seeds require warm soil to germinate, typically 65-70°F (18-21°C). Maintain consistent moisture and provide bright, indirect light. Germination usually occurs in 10-15 days.

Space plants 12-18" apart. Mint needs frequent watering. To keep your plants productive, harvest frequently—this encourages fuller, bushier growth and prevents the plant from flowering too early, which can alter the flavor of the leaves.
Harvesting
Harvest leaves any time after the plant is established. For the best flavor, harvest in the morning after the dew has dried. Snip off the stems just above a leaf node; the plant will quickly regrow from that point.
